The history of Australian cinema has been frustrating for film-makers and historians alike .
The first feature film ever made, The Story of the Kelly Gang, was filmed in Melbourne. However, since then Australia’s output has been sporadic at best. Apart from a brief era of ‘Ozploitation’ in the 70s there have been few Australian films produced, with many film-makers taking their projects overseas.
But as Anton Crace reports, the Australian film industry might again be entering a golden era.
